A Depoe Bay man who police say accidentally shot his partner in the head while intoxicated in October has been arrested and charged.
Kenneth Lyle Ames faces felony and misdemeanor charges of in relation to the incident, which happened in the evening of Oct. 24 at a home on Sunnyview Lane.
Deputies say that, after Ames dialed 911, they arrived at the scene to find Lovena Terry conscious and talking, despite having suffered a .22-caliber gunshot to the head.
Terry, 47, was transported via Reach helicopter to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, with what police described as "non-life threatening injuries."
Deputies said their initial investigation revealed that Ames was intoxicated and the shooting was accidental.
On Dec. 1, a Lincoln County Grand Jury indicted Ames on charges of third-degree assault, a Class C felony; recklessly endangering another, a Class A misdemeanor; and negligently wounding another, an unclassified public order misdemeanor with penalties including a 10-year prohibition on hunting.
Ames was arrested on Dec. 5 and arraigned the next day.
As of press time, he remained in Lincoln County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail.
