After reopening less than a month ago the Kernville Steak and Seafood House burned to the ground early Saturday. Despite the intensity of the fire no one was believed to have been inside. North Lincoln Fire and Rescue Capt. Jim Kusz said the State Fire Marshall is sending investigators to the scene.
Billy Burbach, who lives directly across the street said, "I was awaken by an abundant glow of orange light and when I looked out my sliding door the restaurant was completely engulfed in flames". "I was about to call 911 when the fire trucks arrived", said Burbach. Two restaurant customers Pattee Taylor and Michelle Montclaire, had dinner there last night and said "it seemed like business as usual nothing seemed out of the ordinary, we enjoyed excellent steak and food".
The Kernville restaurant reopened June 27, upon tremendous excitement and local fanfare after the business was featured on the front page of the News Guard on June 11. This is the third highly popular local business that has caught fire within three weeks. The Crab Pot was destroyed by fire on July 3, and Momiji Japanese & Chinese Restaurant at Tanger Outlet suffered an estimated $30,000 in fire damage on July 14.
