At 10:20 a.m. on May 8, Oregon State Police and North Lincoln Fire and Rescue responded to a vehicle accident on Highway 18 near milepost 10.5.

A yellow Jeep, driven by a 59-year-old man from Salem reportedly drove off the westbound shoulder and into a tree. The man became entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by NLFR crews before he was taken by ambulance to a vacant field near mile post 5.

He was then taken by Life Flight to the hospital due to the injuries he had sustained to his head, but were reportedly non life-threatening. The driver's current condition is unknown at this time.

The vehicle was later towed by Car Care Towing out of Lincoln City.
