David Lon Humphrey has died while in adult custody at the Eastern Oregon Correctional Institution in Pendleton, according to a statement from the Oregon Department of Corrections (DOC).
Humphrey, a former Lincoln City Councilor and former Lincoln County School District teacher, plead guilty to 10 counts of encouraging child sex abuse. He was sentenced to 84 months in prison following his conviction on Monday, March 17, 2014 in Lincoln County Court.
Officials said Humphrey passed away on Nov. 22, in the institution’s end of life care program. Oregon State Police have been notified and a medical examiner will determine the cause of death.
Humphrey entered DOC custody on March 18, 2014 from Lincoln County. His earliest release date was December 9, 2018. Humphrey was 66-years-old.
