North Lincoln Fire & Rescue crews rushed to the end of Holmes Road late Tuesday morning May 22, following a report of a boat explosion on Devils Lake.

As the crews arrived they found a jet ski on fire about 50 yards from the shore. Witnesses said the newly purchased craft was being tested in the water when it exploded. There were no injuries.

First arriving fire crews were unable to reach the burning jet ski and they called for the NLFR water rescue team to assist.

The water rescue team arrived, unloaded their jet ski and motored across the lake to reach the burning watercraft. The jet ski was towed back to shore where the first crew used water from their tanker truck to put the flames out.
