Dennis Michael (Mike) Jones

April 10, 1943 – January 4, 2019

Dennis Michael (Mike) Jones was born to Lowell (Hap) and Elvera Gardner Jones on April 10, 1943 in Portland, OR. Mike passed away on January 4, 2019 in Corvallis, OR.

He attended Depoe Bay grade school until the sixth grade when his family moved to Kernville. Mike had an older sister Nancy and 2 younger Brothers, Pat and Shayne.

Mike joined the Army in the early 60’s. He spent 31 months in Germany guarding the Berlin Wall. Mike was in the artillery and a sharpshooter with the M14 rifle.

Mike and Alaina Miles Jones were married on January 11, 1975 in Lincoln City, OR. He worked for Grahn’s Construction in Otis and started working for the City of Lincoln City in 1981. Mike worked at the wastewater plant in collections. He retired from the city in 2005.

Mike loved fishing, crabbing and camping, and spent time with his family doing these things. He loved his classic car, a 1954 Ford Crestline. Mike and his wife Alaina spent many years traveling to and from car shows and parades in this old car. He joined the Fraternal Order of Eagles in 1986. He believed in their moto, People Helping People”. He spent many years fulfilling this motto.

Mike is preceded in death by both parents Lowell and Gardner Jones, and two brothers, Pat and Shayne.

He is survived by his wife, Alaina, children Chad Jones, Melanie Watkins(Roy), Christopher Jones (Dena), Whitney Jones(Anthony), 9 grandchildren Brittany Jones Potter, Alyssa Jones, Mathew Jones, Dylan Jones, Layla Jones and Drew Jones. Mike also had 8 great grandchildren, a sister Nancy Reitz(Richard), and many nieces and nephews.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Mike at North Lincoln Eagles on February 16 at 2 pm. The Eagles address is 737 SW 32nd St., Lincoln City, OR.

The family is suggesting that any donations made in Mike’s name be made to the North Lincoln Eagles Taft 7-12 School Music Program. Donations can be mailed to North Lincoln Eagles, PO Box 766, Lincoln City, OR 97367.
