After clinching the Gleneden Beach 4th of July parade float grand prize, the Lincoln City All-Star teams seek a championship to wrap up their 2018 summer baseball season.
On Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15, the Lincoln City Youth League will host the All-Star circuit tournament at Kirtsis Park and Taft High School. The event will include 26 teams in three divisions from all around the region.
Farm co-coach Toby Hunter said he is having a blast coaching and seeing the local players develop.
"I enjoy seeing the interaction with the kids, watching them apply what they have been taught in practice and seeing their joy with the success it creates and the confidence it builds,” he said. “Baseball is so much more than a sport. Everything they learn can be applied to life. These kids have worked their tail off and have reaped the rewards plenty of times throughout the season.”
Over the last month, the Lincoln City Youth League baseball teams have traveled to Newport, Junction City, Coos Bay, Florence, and Dallas in an attempt to earn championship status.
The three divisions include Farm, Minors, and Majors and will be matched for play at the weekend tournament in Lincoln City.
All teams will want to claim the top prize as the tournament host, and will have to play their best baseball of the season.
